NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CFH) - Service Desk Certification for Egton
Healthcare ICT support specialist Egton, a division of EMIS Group plc, has been awarded NHS Connecting for Health (CFH) Certification for its Service Desk.
Achieving NHS CFH Service Desk Certification means that users in England can contact Egton directly with IT issues rather than using the NHS CFH National Service Desk.
Paul Murphy, System Support Manager at Egton said: "CFH Service Desk Certification demonstrates that our Service Desk has undergone a rigorous testing process in terms of technical ability, understanding of the NHS and our knowledge of local, national and LSP provided applications.
"But as well as providing reassurance of quality, it also saves our customers valuable time. The fact they can now come straight through to our team, and we are now certified to interface directly with national providers such as ATOS and BT Spine, means we can provide help and expertise at the moment it is needed which, particularly within the healthcare sector, can make a critical difference."
The certification also means that, via direct links with the NHS CFH's Service Bridge, Egton is now able to quickly communicate or respond to high severity IT issues that may affect national applications.

Egton becomes addtional supplier to the NHS
Egton has signed a contract with NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CfH) to provide IT products and services under the Additional Supply Capability and Capacity (ASCC) framework.
The company, which provides ICT infrastructure, application software and value added services – primarily to the healthcare and education sectors – is one of just a handful of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to be shortlisted under the new procurement framework.
The agreement means Egton can bid to provide ICT services to support the delivery of existing non-clinical systems, including telephone and helpdesk support and managed desktop solutions services. Egton will also be able to bid for the provision of new non-clinical systems and services for both the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) and wider IT projects in the primary care sector, in addition to offering hardware, network infrastructure and consultancy services.
Thomas Donoghue, Egton’s General Manager said: “We are delighted to be accredited under the ASCC framework. This is significant news for both Egton and its customers. It confirms our commitment to providing quality, value added services into the NHS.
“It also compliments our existing best practice accreditations of ISO 20000 (based on the ITIL Framework), IS27001 (Information Security) and ISO9001 - making our value added propositions available for the wider benefit of the NHS."
